Food: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Cost: 4/5 Will return: Definitely, love the fiery spices in many of their dishes

I've always seen a line out the door for this place and finally got a chance to try. My friends and I came Sunday for lunch and luckily no wait. There's many options on the menus both spicy&numbing and not spicy. Everything we ordered was great and the presentation of the food was phenomenal. Also fyi the numbing chicken comes out green (instead of red which you might be used to) because of the scallion they blend into the sauce. Huge fan and I'll be back in the future to try some of their other dishes!

Seeing the Saint Mark's location, I was hesitant to believe the 5 star reviews. Forget what you knew about the neighborhood - it has transformed into a little Asia. Tons of restaurants transport you from NYC. Szechuan Mountain House is the pinnacle of that. We enjoyed the mapo tofu and a fish soup and pea shoots. Everything was very delicious & spicy hot. (I expect the mango dessert spot next door gets a lot of business from people looking to cool down their mouth.)

Second time at this restaurant and it continues to be one of my fave chinese restaurants ive tried in the states ever! the food is always so flavorful and authentic and the prices are very fair for nyc. We got the house chili chicken, the jianbei fish, and the sizzling tofu. The tofu was the standout dish for me this time and the flavor and crispy skin reminded me of roast duck (yes i am the friend lol and i am canto~) Their decorations are beautiful (even the moist napkins they give are in a cute packaging like old chinese bookbinding) and our waitresses were very attentive and helpful! 10/10 must try

Best Szechuan spot out there, and it's also on the NYT top 100 list! Food and portion sizes are great. Filet fish stews were great, get the tomato fish soup too. Loved the fried rice, and service is also amazing. Seating is plentiful and nice. Caution to make sure not to eat any green-chilis that look suspiciously like string beans. Whenever I'm here this is where I go.

The inside of the restaurant is decorated like a garden which set the vibe as soon as you walked in. My 2 friends and I shared 1 appetizer and 2 main dishes which was a perfect amount. The house chicken was a nice start to the meal: very refreshing and light. The Jiang stew fish was a comfortable spice level and the fish was cooked perfectly. The crispy tofu took my surprise because the sauce was really good. My friend said the skin tasted like roast duck - I'm not sure I agree with her. Next time I would love to try the swing pork and some other dishes!

One of my favorite Szechuan spots in the city. The only downside is the wait. My go to dishes are the: - boiled fish fillets - la zi chicken - swing pork belly - eggplant All the food is full of flavor and tongue numbing spicy. Service is decent. The only improvement I can note is better a/c in the summer. It was still pretty warm and stuffy in the restaurant.

Food: 5/5 | Service: 4.5/5 | Experience 4.5/5 I was very impressed by the food here and portion sizes as well. Service was prompt and food came out quickly. Prices were fair. We ordered the swing pork belly, la-zi chicken, and the ma ma hot fish. Do be aware that these dishes are spicy, so ensure you get rice as well! The pork belly was good and aesthetic. The la-zi chicken was perfectly crispy. The fish was so tender.

Wow, wow, wow. I am forever indebted to the bartender that said mountain house is the must hit szechuan spot. Walking in your table is prepped with the chef's special pickles. It is cabbage with chili oil. When I say addicting, I mean addicting. Just incredible flavor. And awesome spice. For dinner, I went with the server's recommendation. Sliced beef in sweet and sour sauce. It was a solid dish. Definitely outside of my comfort zone. But, really good. The sauce was tangy with good spice. It was especially good pouring some sauce into my rice bowl. The beef was zesty. Really solid spice. Sliced razor thin so it was not tough and melted in your mouth. The sweet and sour sauce had a really nice tang to it that I enjoyed. The interior is really nice. And, jumping. Looking at other tables, there are definitely a ton of other incredible options. Next trip to New York, you better believe this is a spot I'll hit again!

So glad I stopped by Szechuan Mountain House for lunch, they were phenomenal! The food is excellent -- really authentic, and many dishes have a unique spice that's hard to describe. The La-Zi Chicken was phenomenal, with delicious, diced chunks of crispy chicken interspersed with dry chili peppers. So, so good! The Beef Sour Soup was equally delicious. A little less spicy, but lots of sour in the broth, and thin, fatty slices of beef that added savoriness to every bite/slurp. There were lots of other dishes I wish I could have tried, but with the massive portion sizes for each entree, I was ready to explode by the end of my meal. Service was excellent, and the interior was surprisingly upscale for this part of EV. Definitely a fantastic restaurant for Szechuan!
